The UK is famous for its friendly culture, historical landmarks, and beautiful cities and countryside to explore. So it's no wonder that we have a lot of wonderful au pairs wanting to visit your beautiful country!
Aside from the obvious benefits of hosting an au pair, it can also be pretty stressful. What about your privacy? We have experience in guiding you through this process so you don't need to worry about the details. Au pairs love to go on adventures, they are adventurous types! Especially in the UK, who wouldn't want to make memories, experience the wonderful history, and get to know the warm and welcoming culture that the British are known for?

Questions of other parents in UK

When do I have to pay the €1000 euro fee?

You pay after we’ve found you your perfect au pair.

What are the rules for au pairs in the UK?
  • They are between 18-30 years old;
  • They are unmarried and have no children;
  • They have enough money to pay for their visa and plane ticket;
  • They have at least an intermediate school certificate;
  • They have a clear criminal record.

Additional rules apply to non-European au pairs,

  • They need to have at least £2,530 in savings and can prove this;
  • They sign an au pair contract;
  • They take a TB test if applicable.
What if the video calls with candidates don't lead to a match?

It happens! It’s unfortunate, but of course we will do our best to find you another candidate who better suits your family.

Does an au pair help with housekeeping?

Yes, the au pair can do light housework. They can help with vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher, putting in a wash and folding laundry – but no cleaning of the bathroom or cleaning windows for example.

What do you pay an au pair in the UK?

The au pair lives with your family and are entitled to a minimum of £70 per week in pocket money. We typically recommend host families give £90 per week in pocket money and closer to £120 for au pairs in London. They get board and lodging for free.

How many hours per week does an au pair work in the UK?

Au pairs in the UK can work a maximum of 30 hours per week with two evenings per week for babysitting included within the hours. They are also entitled to two full days off a week.

How many days off does the au pair have?

An au pair is entitled to at least 2 full days off per week and at least once a month their day off has to be a Sunday. There is no specific obligation for holiday time for au pairs, but we recommend 4 weeks of holiday for a 12 month stay plus public holidays off. This is one of the best ways to learn about British culture!

Where can my au pair come from?

Due to Brexit, the nationalities of the young people that can au pair in the UK have become quite limited. Au pairs from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Monaco, San Marino, Iceland, and British overseas territories are eligible under the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme.

Au pairs from Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan can become eligible through their government ballot systems. British nationals can also au pair within the UK to explore a different country than their own. More information on eligibility and visas can be found in our UK blog post.
